Lynne has been singing semi professionally for 25 years and turned professional in 2004.
As well as being a well known figure on the bluegrass circuit where she is rated as one of the best female vocalists, Lynne's vocal range and ability allows her to sing any kind of music across many genres from country to rock and indeed, she has fronted a couple of rock bands in the past as well as other cover bands. Her versitility enables her to sing at any kind of event from bluegrass/country festivals to providing live 'music across the decades/popular covers' at weddings and other venues. Lynne is also an accomplished Yodeller!!!! This adds lots of fun and entertainment for everyone when called for and even the Swiss Embassy has taken an interest in her yodelling!
She is a varied and entertaining performer who is also a DJ for two major internet radio stations http://www.ukcountryradio.com and http://www.bluegrassplanetearth.com where she hosts weekly bluegrass radio shows - 'Butler's Boudoir Bluegrass' and Lynne Butler’s Eurograss - (please see ‘Radio‘ tab on website for more details). Whilst hosting these shows she has had the pleasure to interview such artists as Peter Rowan, Jack Lawrence, The Dixie Bee Liners, Claire Lynch and many others including top UK bluegrass artists. An interview with the Grascals has been granted too in the near future. Lynne also provides weekly music sessions for adults and children with learning difficulties. In the spring og 2011 the European Bluegrass Music Association’s magazine ‘Bluegrass Europe’ featured a three page interview on her involvement in the bluegrass media as a DJ.
Just recently as part of Sam Brown's 'International Ukulele Club of Sonning Common', Lynne and her son George (a talented Ukulele player too) performed at a concert nr Henley on Thames alongside such respected artists as Sam herself, Mr Joe Brown OBE (with whom she did a fun 'yodelling' duet), Charlie Dore, Pete Brown, Aitch McRobbie, Rich Newman, Sandy Hill, Mo Evans, Mike Lawrence, Aaron McRobbie and many other fabulously talented people - namely the whole of the Ukulele Club. Look out for the International Ukuelel Club of Sonning Common as the gigs are coming in fast and are wonderful fun and extremely entertaining (see 'gigs' tab). Also, the International Ukulele Club of Sonning Common had the honour of recording on Joe Brown's latest album due out in March 2012.
Earlier in 2010 she did some session work for Doris Brendel http://www.myspace.com/dbdriving, the daughter of the worldwide acclaimed pianist Alfred Brendel, www.alfredbrendel.com, providing backing vocals on her newly released album - The Last Adventure. In 2009 her song 'Talk to the Face' was nominated for the UKcountryradio.com's listener award where she got into the top three and in 2010 another song 'The Sky' won her third place in the Listeners Award. You can see Lynne at most of the major Bluegrass festivals either performing, emceeing or doing radio coverage not only here in the UK but overseas too.
Lynne has played in many countries over the years including the Caribbean and the USA. She has written three albums one of which is a children's one and is currently writing a fourth due to be released at the end of this year.
An accomplished guitar, ukulele and Double Bass player (also now learning the Drums) and with her ability to work an audience Lynne provides a fun evening of entertainment and The Lynne Butler Band provides an equally fun evening with multi-instrumentalists and vocalists making up the band. They are a fast paced, fun, energetic band with quality musicianship and tight harmony vocals. Newly reformed you will be able to see them on the bluegrass circuit and they are available for private bookings too (see Services tab on website).
The line up for the Lynne Butler Band are:
Lynne Butler - Vocals, Double Bass, Guitar, Ukulele and Banjo

As the Lynne Butler Band has only just re-formed she was honoured to be supported and backed by such wonderful musicians for her first concert at the Kenton by musicians such as Richard Holland, Bob Winquist, Lennie Harvey, Gary and Sherryl Payne and by the wonderful Papa Truck at the second concert. Both concerts were hugely successful.
Lynne and her son George had just formed a duo which is already being booked and available for private events and parties. George on the ukelele and vocals and Lynne on double bass, ukulele, guitar and vocals/harmonies. |
